May 2024 Charity Giveaway
In December 2023, we organised a prize draw that rewarded two lucky winners with £250 each and included a charitable donation of £500. After tallying the votes, Pilgrim’s Hospices emerged as the charity with the most nominations. To honour this choice, we presented a cheque for £500 to one of their local representatives.
Fast forward six months, and we have decided to extend our charitable efforts by donating an additional £250 to another deserving charity.
The Christmas draw saw participation from over 100 different charities, each with a worthy cause. To streamline our selection process this time, we chose to focus on the next ten most-nominated charities from the original list.
To determine the recipient of our £250 donation, we decided to engage our Facebook community, asking them to vote for their preferred charity from this shortlist.
Here are the ten most nominated charities, presented in no order:
Air Ambulance Service: This vital service provides emergency medical care and transportation, often making the difference between life and death for patients in critical conditions.
British Heart Foundation: Dedicated to fighting heart disease, this foundation funds research, provides support for patients, and promotes heart health awareness across the UK.
Thanet Disabled Riding Centre: This organisation offers therapeutic horse-riding sessions to individuals with disabilities, helping to improve their physical and emotional well-being.
Demelza Charity: Focused on providing hospice care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, Demelza offers compassionate support to families during challenging times.
Macmillan Cancer Support: Macmillan provides a wide range of services, from medical care to financial advice, to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
Cancer Research UK: Leading the way in cancer research, this charity funds groundbreaking studies aimed at understanding and treating various types of cancer.
RSPCA (England & Wales): The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need while also advocating for animal rights.
Porchlight: This charity supports homeless and vulnerable individuals by offering housing, mental health support, and assistance in finding employment.
Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children’s Charity: This world-renowned hospital provides specialised care to children with complex medical conditions, supported by the charity’s fundraising efforts.
RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution): The RNLI saves lives at sea through its volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguard services, as well as promoting water safety education.
